Industry Overview
Outdoor advertising reaches more adult consumers more often than any other advertising media. In addition, outdoor gets remembered more than any other media leaving a lasting impression on the consumer. With outdoor you can zero in on demographic groups and life styles, 24 hours a day 7 days a week. New digital print technology allows creative art work to appear larger than life with realistic images and spectacular graphics.
The industry has seen tremendous growth over the last decade due to an expanding audience. More people are driving more often and farther distances. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation commuting miles have increased 37% since 1983 due to urban expansion, as household vehicles increased six times the population growth rate. Recent studies show that 75% of Americans believe information on billboards is useful. ( Penn, Schoen & Berland- March 1997.)
United Outdoor’s target market is the I-15 corridor which carries travelers going to Las Vegas from the Los Angeles basin and surrounding counties including Orange, San Bernardino/Riverside and San Diego. Automobile transportation accounts for 41% of all tourists traveling to Las Vegas of which over half are from California.
Annual transportation figures show that automobile traffic continues to increase along I-15 creating a need to expand highway lanes. This expansion has created demand for additional highway services including motels, service stations, retail outlets, food and billboard advertising.
Major resort casinos have a specific need to get their message out to the millions of tourists heading to Las Vegas. Room Rates, Promotions, Shows, and Services can be displayed with creative artwork to leave a lasting impression on their minds to be assured they will visit their property.
